Outlook doesn’t deliver out email messages that go beyond the outlook attachment size limit of 20 MB according to its default settings even though other email programs do let an attachment size up to 25 MB. However you can give instructions to Outlook to deliver messages that exceed the Outlook Attachment Size Limit of 20 MB given that your email server lets it. You can also skip on receiving back the messages that are undelivered in case the file size exceeds Outlook’s default size.
Ever seen an Error Message on Outlook?
Sometimes you will see that Outlook will refuse to deliver an email if you are sending a mail with a video of size 200 MB video, however your mail server will allow you to deliver messages up to a size of 25MB if your attachment is only a little above the default 20MB Outlook Attachment Size Limit then you may change Outlook’s default to match the size of the mail server’s default.
How to Increase the Outlook Attachment Size Limit?
If you want to increase the Outlook Attachment Size Limit on your emails, you have to obey the following steps:
- Of course first you must sign in to your Outlook Account.
- Then hit the keyboard shortcut keys for “Windows” and “R”.
- Then enter this “regedit” on the Rundialog box that appears.
- Now press the button which says OK.
- Scroll below the registry tree right beside the entry that corresponds according to the version of Outlook you are using:
- Outlook 2010: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\\Preferences.
- Outlook 2013: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\\Preferences.
- Outlook 2016: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\\Preferences.
- Then you must click the value of Maximum Attachment Size
- If you cannot view the Maximum Attachment Size then do this:
- Choose the option for Editthen navigate to New and finally to DWORD Value in the menu that appears.
- Now type in the “Maximum Attachment Size” (without the quotations)
- Hit Enter.
- Once again double hit the Maximum Attachment Sizethat you just entered.
- If you cannot view the Maximum Attachment Size then do this:
- Type in your wanted outlook attachment size limit in KB beneath the field of Value Data:
- For instance if you want to set the Outlook Attachment Size Limit to 25MB, you should type in “25600.”
- The default value for the attachment size would be 20MB or 20480.
- If you don’t want any attachment size value to be assigned all you have to do is type in a “0.” Even though every mail server already has an attachment size limit so it is not advised that you enter “0” because you would get most messages as undelivered back into your inbox after a long uploading process when composing the email.
- Technically the limit should match the limit of your mail server. You can decrease the limit on Outlook by a good 500KB to give it some room.
- Now press OK.
